Food Porn Backed By Flavour: The Substance Of 50SIXONE

They’re making the most photogenic shakes in Adelaide, but 50SIXONE aren’t just about image. All day breakfast, light lunch and healthy options make this a triple threat to dining on King William Rd.

KWR has long been a destination for foodies with its distinctive and often-packed restaurants and cafes, especially in the breakfast and brunch fare. Upon any given weekend (or weekday for that matter), the pavement is bustling with punters seeking the standard café options, or the more fresh and exciting organic revolutionaries. But now officially open is the most thrilling new-comer of all, New York-inspired eatery 50SIXONE. If food porn is your thing, 144a King William Road, Hyde Park is your new heaven.

While plenty of kitchens on KWR share a love for bacon and eggs, smoothie bowls, and the avo smash, these new kids on the block are really challenging the boundaries of the most important meal of the day. Intricately inspired and mouth-wateringly finished, 50SixOne’s breakfast and lunch menu reinvents the freshest local ingredients into healthy wake-me-up dishes full of passion. Granola Panna Cotta, Salmon and Fennel Biscotti, Pepper Roast with Goat’s Cheese, Caramelised Brioche and striking Beet and Kale plates are just a handful of the options available from 7am to 4pm (yes, it’s breakfast all day!). Your taste buds will be tested, and desperately cry out for more.

This kitchen and dessert bar has been a long time coming and these guys have been teasing every step of the way on social media, with three thousand Instagram followers even before its opening date. It might be a food bloggers’ dream, though it’s also clear every Adelaidean has developed a penchant for theatrical food delights in recent years.

50SIXONE is the absolute epitome of a feast of the senses. Faint notes of salted caramel and crispy bacon beacons you in. The popping candy rainbow and oozing chocolate desserts strike your eyes, sure, but every dish has been crafted with love and demands to be eaten with the same care.

Their incredibly detailed and sophisticated menu caters for every foodie, from vegan, gluten-free and lactose intolerant, to those who wear elasticised waist-bands from over eating. Sticking to an immaculately crafted philosophy of classics with a fresh twist, the excessive becomes addictive in every dish.

Whether on a slider or biscotti, the smoked salmon bursts with creamy and tangy deliciousness as the traditional eggs benedict gets a makeover. Among the other delectable corn fritters, avo smash, brioche buns and granola, 50sixone creates masterpieces which taste even more amazing than they look, if you can believe it. And with names like the ‘OMG!! Snap… Chat… That!’ shake and ‘BAE’ flatbread, how can you not fall in love with this place.

Every dessert dish lures you back for more, with the absolute standouts the mouth-wateringly rich ‘Signature Red Velvet’ pancakes and the nutty goodness of the ‘Between Two Cookies’ ice-cream sandwiches. This is seriously good food and is intensely fun to eat in a wonderland where even the humble homemade ice cream is dipped in real gold.
