Ready for an immersive art experience while you grocery shop?
Foodland Supermarket customers will, for a limited time only, get an exclusive SALA art gallery experience right in-store.
From 19 August – 30 September, 25 Foodland Supermarkets across the state will showcase unique in-store exhibitions created by South Australian artists.
Created by budding local artists and experienced professionals, the displays will include sculptures, paintings, ceramics, glass, textiles and more. Artists from as young as seven years old have works set to be displayed in the stores.
The largest showing will be at Foodland Frewville, where 12 artists will showcase more than 20 works.
Foodland Supermarkets CEO, Franklin dos Santos says the Foodland team is excited to be part of the festival, which will see more than 600 exhibitions accessible across the state.
“This isn’t only about giving an opportunity to artists in the current COVID climate; This is also about giving work to installation specialists and gallery curators,” he says.
“This is about helping the whole community and using the power of our brand to create something truly special for the state.”
The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival 2021 will see a record number of 9,167 artists participating this year. Now in its 24th year, SALA will run from August 1-31 and is the largest open-access visual arts festival in Australia and the world. There will be exhibitions throughout South Australia and online celebrating the talents of South Australians from those exhibiting for the first time to more established artists.
SALA CEO Kate Moskwa says she is glad the festival was able to continue onward despite other festivals’ COVID cancellations.
“We are thrilled to launch SALA Festival 2021 and hope that all South Australians get out and enjoy the connections, creativity, and inspiration that our artists are sharing this year,” she says.
