Fellow foodies, the answer to your food-trucking dreams has finally arrived, and you’ll be thanking your lucky stars this service finally exists in SA.
The FoodTrucker website, which was a huge success in Brisbane, has now expanded to include Adelaide, indicating where and when food trucks will be located across the festival state and allowing a smoother booking platform.
FoodTrucker solves several long-standing issues including exact locations of the food trucks, events that clearly show their lineup, and simplified compliance, making it user-friendly for all involved, from food truck vendors, to businesses and consumers.
“FoodTrucker brings structure and efficiency to a process that is currently fragmented and time-consuming,” says FoodTrucker founder, Basset Yezza, who concocted the idea three years ago after working events and festivals and noticing a distinct gap in the market.
“FoodTrucker is a platform designed to bring the street food and event ecosystem together in one place across Australia, helping organisers manage vendors and events more efficiently, while giving food trucks greater visibility and access to booking opportunities,” says former marketing guru, Basset.
Entering South Australia was a natural fit for FoodTrucker, considering the state’s rich calendar of events and consistent demand for food vendors, Basset said.
“By entering South Australia, we’re not just expanding geographically, we’re stepping into a market where better matching, scheduling and visibility tools can immediately improve outcomes for both organisers and vendors,” he says.
The business initially started as a simple directory and marketing platform for food trucks, but has since evolved into a more structured platform that has been incubated by ThincLab at the University of Adelaide, and is gaining significant traction without any real marketing push, indicating that the problem is very real and that FoodTrucker is an obvious solution.
“The food truck ecosystem is still highly fragmented and largely manual, with much of the industry relying on spreadsheets, social media groups, and posts that quickly get buried,” says Basset.
“Overall, FoodTrucker was built to create a more connected, transparent and reliable system for everyone involved in the industry.”
For vendors, FoodTrucker allows them to consistently discover new opportunities and secure bookings, while organisers are able to source and manage vendors in a more efficient manner, and customers are able to discover food trucks and events and stay updated in real time.
Overall, it’s a big win for all involved, and the live lineup pages enable greater visibility and useful tools for all sides, with a mobile app launching soon.
