Forget Toilet Paper, We’ve Found Laying Hens For Sale!

The great chicken run of 2020 has seen poultry across SA almost as hard to find as the ol’ toilet paper. Until now.

It seems South Australians are embracing their new earthy selves. Whilst our ambitions of getting ISO-fit and learning new languages may be beyond most of us, it seems gardening and securing food sources for our families is something we’re all over.

Pretty much everyone I know has planted a vegetable garden of some description, and it seems that raising egg-laying hens is also high on the agenda.

So much so, that there has been a state-wide shortage of the coveted egg-machines. The great chicken run of 2020 has seen poultry across SA almost as hard to find as the ol’ toilet paper.

Until now.

Riverside Farm in the Barossa Valley have shared on Facebook, that they will have hens available from the 1st of June.

They have a bunch of experienced egg layers (14-15 months old) available to go to good homes in the coming weeks.

Available from 1st June, they are $10 each and would be great all rounders for the backyard or home setup.

You must BYO container for transporting them home.

You can order your hen from their website at www.riversidefarm.net.au/shop but get in quick. If the 400+ comments on their Facebook post are anything to go by, they’ll be snapped up in a heartbeat.
