Forget Winter! Here Are The Hottest Events In Adelaide This June

Here’s some of the best events happening around South Australia this month.

Every Friday in June, Friday Knock Offs at 2KW. Starting this Friday 2 June 2KW’s Barrel Thieves winemakers will be showing their wines between 5.30-7pm. These wines will be paired weekly with a chef selected paella.

Friday 2 June, Cabaret Fringe Festival Gala Ball. To kick off the Cabaret Fringe festivities, Adelaide’s grand old Freemasons Hall will this year play host to the hugely popular Opening Night Gala! Hosted by Cabaret Fringe Ambassador Hans and Creative Director Jennifer Kingwell, and starring a wide range of specially selected CabFringe artists, the Opening Gala provides Adelaide cabaret fans with a night of exclusive entertainment while helping to raise funds for the festival. It’s the perfect way to kick off your cabaret season!

Friday 2 June, Tap Hijack at BRKLYN. Young Henrys brewing company are doing a ‘Tap Hijack‘. They’ll be taking over all the taps  taps for the night to give people a sample of their core range and limited editions beers. The night will also feature live music as well as live graffiti and art in our ‘subway’ courtesy of hot Melbourne street artist ‘Le Grizz’.
Friday 2 June, RAW Adelaide. RAW is an indie arts organisation for artists, by artists. They focus on spotlighting indie underground talent to the public. Every second month in Adelaide they hand-select and showcase 30+ artists in film, fashion, music, visual art, photography, performing art, hair and make up for a one night creative explosion! Friday 2 June, Spanish Soul Night at Hoosegow. Bel Martinez will be putting on a special solo performance for diners this evening. What perfect way to wrap up the week!
Friday 2 June, Two Sisters Winter Warmer Carpark Party. Goodwood’s Two Sisters Food & Wine are bringing out the mulled wine and Lobethal Bierhaus will be offering up their Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. Let’s be clear, we get warm spiced wine and beer that tastes like chocolate!
Friday 2 June, Bird In Hand Twilight Dinner SeriesFamily-owned Adelaide Hills winery Bird in Hand is opening its restaurant, The Gallery, for another Twilight Series after the success seen in March and April. The Friday Twilight series is an opportunity for wine lovers to sample the menu from new Chef de Cuisine Carlos Astudillo in the evening whilst taking in the beautiful scenery of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. Bookings are recommended to secure your spot for the evening.
Friday 2 June, Coriole Wine Up at The Kensi. Wind up the week with Friday night drinks in the Wine Bar with Coriole Vineyards. Talk to people in the know and taste an amazing selection of wines, accompanied with delicious nibbles. Make the most of a chance to purchase wine on the night at greatly reduced prices. Saturday 3 June, Oliver’s Taranga Porchetta PartyWe have the 2 porchetta parties on the Sat & Sunday of the June Long Weekend. Sunday is pretty much sold out, but there is still a little space in the Sat one. Snatch up what’s left of Saturday’s tickets here.
Saturday 3 June, Electra House Bottomless Brunch. Bottomless Prosecco, Bloody Mary’s and Mimosa​s​! Need we say more? There will be DJs and drinks specials to keep you going after brunch! Tuesday 6 June, Austin Bloom Intro To Floristry Masterclass: Classic. This introductory course will expose you to the basics of floristry in a Classic theme. You will be taught how to use and maintain fresh cut seasonal flowers in varying arrangements, such as hand held bouquets, posy jars, button holes, corsages, cake toppers and table arrangements. Not only will you be creating your own floral arrangements but we will have tutorials from an creative industry expert to contextualise your masterpieces. **Please note that this is a SIX WEEK continuous course on a Wednesday night from 6:30pm til 9:00pm from the 7th of June til the 12th of July.
Thursday 8 June, Caltex Socceroos v Saudi Arabia.You’ll be kicking yourself if you miss the opportunity to catch the Socceroos in action against Saudi Arabia in this all-important 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Asian Qualifier. Adelaide Oval will turn green and gold for this epic event!
Friday 9 June – Sunday 11 June, Mortlock Shield Weekend at Port LincolnEvery year the, Eyre Peninsula community run a Mortlock Shield Football Carnival at Port Lincoln for each league to compete over the long weekend. The town goes into party mode with, The Port Lincoln Hotel, as one of the main destinations. One of Adelaide’s party bands, The Incredibles, will be there for 3 huge nights where dancing is expected.
Friday 9 June – Sunday 12 June, Bird in Hand is open all the long weekend in June. The Gallery will be serving lunch Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Saturday June 10, Glen Ewin Estate Gin Fest. this event is for hardcore gin enthusiasts only. Why else would we bring together South Australia’s foremost distillers? Or bother spit-roasting a pig swathed in gin? An epic day for all gin lovers. We’ll be celebrating World Gin Day with hourly prizes, a sweeping variety of tastings and masterclasses for the true gin worshipers.

Sunday 11 June, Sea & Vines. You’ve got plenty of options when it comes to Sea & Vines. Whether you just want a bus to and fro the winery, brekki included, a killer afterparty or the lot, you’re sure to find it. Some of our favourite hotels joining in on the action are The Stag and The Colonist.

Sunday 11 June, 2KW Sunday Session. If you’re looking to keep the Sea and Vine party going, head to 2KW for an afternoon of old school vibes. They’ll be bringing in some of Adelaide’s best finest DJs to play old school to enjoy while you’re sipping on your champagne and mixed cocktails.

Sunday 11 June, Sapporo Snow Party at The HWY. Grab your beanie, boots and bestie and head to our famous annual Snow Party on the June Long Weekend. The snow is forecast to start falling around 2pm, when the entertainment kicks off! First there’s Ryley on the Decks, followed by Reggae On and then DJ Justice & Friends to finish the night. There’ll be frozen Espresso Martini’s, Ice Moulded Cocktails and Sapporo Beer Asia specials and giveaways. Remember to dress accordingly … fake snow is cold!

Thursday 15 June, Meet the Wine Maker At Alere Restaurant with Kalleske Wines. Gather friends, family, colleagues or any other wine lover for that matter and head along to Alere Restaurant’s Meet the Wine Maker session with Kalleske Wines. A family operation for many generations, these wines are organic, sustainable and environmentally friendly. Using minimalist winemaking techniques to fully capture the essence of the vineyard allowing genuine handmade estate wines to be produced. Friday 16 June, Free @ Heart VIP Fashion Parade. Grab your girlfriends for a night out! Free @ Heart are hosting a fashion parade to officially launch their new leather label with plenty of great wine and canapés. Saturday 17 June – Sunday 18 June, Adelaide’s Gluten Free Matters ExpoStroll through the stands and discover the great range of gluten free foods being produced. Take in a gluten free cooking demonstration, listen to an interesting speaker, enjoy a drink, snack or meal in the totally gluten free café!

Sunday 18 June, Beer and Cider Fest. Taste over 100 beer and ciders at the 11th annual Beer and Cider Fest held at The Arkaba Hotel. Sunday 18 June, Coonawarra ‘Take the Time’ Tasting. Join 2KW for an afternoon of all things Coonawarra as they bring this unique region to the city. Free flowing tastings of their amazing wines will commence from 4pm along with 2KW’s Head Chef Dan Lawrence nibbles, all inspired from the areas produce. Entertainment on the day will be DJ Matt Oakley and Brian Ruiz Objective. Tickets are $60 – book here.
Tuesday 20 June, Winter Whiskey Dinner Series at 2KWacross the three winter months, 2KW is holding three nights of dinners with limited and rare whiskey being the heroes of the night. Delicious menus assist the whiskey with new items on offer each series night.

Thursday 22 June, Henrietta’s Live Music Launch. The Coconut Kids’ have decided to put on a cheeky show in The Henry Austin’s basement bar and cellar to celebrate their new single – Sugar. The first 15 people to rock up will be given free drinking coconuts… because that’s just the way we roll. Not to mention this is the very first time there will be live music at The Henry Austin so let’s turn this venue into something of a party! Oh and it’s free entry.
