Adelaide Oval’s Stadium Management Authority has advised that the Hon. Rob Kerin has been appointed as its new Chair, for the next four years.
Mr Kerin who is the current Chair of the South Australian Football Commission, succeeds Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC, who will remain as Director.
“Kevin has been an outstanding Chair during a very demanding time for our organisation,” Mr Kerin said.
Mr Scarce’s term as Chair has concluded in accordance with the governance structure between the South Australian Cricket Association and South Australian National Football League which provides for nominations for the position of Chair to alternate between terms.
“He oversaw the completion and launch of the hugely successful Oval Hotel venture and his leadership has been fundamental to our navigation of the challenges posed by the global pandemic,” Kerin said.
“I am honoured to be nominated to the position of Chair and I look forward to building on our achievements and to continuing to deliver a world-class product for South Australia.”
Mr Kerin is a South Aussie through and through, with his early life starting in Crystal Brook. Additionally, he attended Sacred Heart College where his love of sport was fostered.
Kerin was South Australia’s Premier for a short period between October 2001 and March 2002.
In 2008 Kerin resigned from politics and has had a variety of high profile board appointments, including Chair of both Primary Producers SA and Oysters SA.
Mr Kerin’s appointment has coincided with the abolishment of close contacts in South Australia as of 12:01am tomorrow. It will be intriguing to see the impact Mr Kerin can make at Adelaide Oval in a post-pandemic South Australia.
SACA President Andrew Sinclair continues in the role as Deputy Chair.
