Independent singer songwriter Nick Cunningham is set to return to his old Eyre Peninsula stomping grounds later this year, as he sets to embark on a national tour.
The former 2023 voice contestant will be playing two seperate shows, one at Streaky Sounds in March and again at SALT Festival in April.
Streaky Sounds, which will be held at the Streaky Bay Oval on March 10, will also showcase Queensland band ‘The Dreggs’, ‘The Delta Riggs’, ‘Funky Monks’ and many other acts.
SALT Festival runs for the better part of two weeks, focusing on art, creativity, innovation and culture in and around Port Lincoln from 19 – 28 April 2024. Nick will be one of the many artists taking the stage in that time, performing at the Nautilus Arts Centre from 7pm on April 26.
“Cannot wait to be back home this year! See you all soon,” Nick Cunningham wrote on Facebook as his homecoming was announced.
Originally from Sheringa, just 40 kilometres south of Elliston or a quick 7.5 hour drive from Adelaide, Nick became a household name after choosing UK singer Rita Ora as his mentor in the 2023 season of the Voice, notably wowing the judges with his rendition of Down Under by Men at Work.
Although he didn’t make it into the top 6, Nick won hearts all over the country, catapulting him into Aussie stardom. Just last year alone Nick surpassed 2.5m streams on Spotify across 178 countries, talk about a home grown talent.
If a trip to the Eyre Peninsula isn’t on your cards, don’t fret. From March, Nick is also set to embark on his ‘Letting Go Tour’ with opening night on March 16 at the Workers Club in Melbourne. Nick will also be making stops in Fremantle, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney and of course, making his long awaited return to SA. Tickets to the tour will go on sale this Friday, January 19th.
Nick’s career began on the streets of Byron Bay busking over a decade ago. Since then Nick’s following has blossomed each and every year, racking up millions of online streams as he tours the his home country. Nick has also performed at other festivals such as Falls Festival, Splendour In The Grass and the Byron Bay Blues festival.
In 2020, he made is radio debut on Triple J with the release of his single ‘Pictures’.
