The St John Carols by Candlelight is set to celebrate its 80th anniversary with a stellar line-up of performers, including the popular Emma Memma, formerly known as the yellow Wiggle. Scheduled for Saturday, 14 December 2024, at Elder Park, the event promises to be a festive highlight for South Australian families.

Emma Memma, a family favourite for her cheerful performances and engaging stage presence, is ready to dazzle the crowd. She stated, “I am absolutely delighted to be part of this year’s Carols. It’s such a special event that brings joy and warmth to so many families, and I can’t wait to share in the magic of the evening with everyone.” Emma’s addition to the line-up follows the announcement of Dami Im, another crowd-pleaser, known for her passionate and powerful performances.

Mark Groote, CEO of St John Ambulance SA, shared “We are thrilled to welcome Emma Memma to her first Carols and to celebrate Christmas for the 80th time with South Australians. Carols is an extension of the work we do daily where community wellbeing is our priority.”

The St John Carols by Candlelight has been a cherished event since its inception in 1944. Originally drawing a crowd that comprised nearly 10 percent of the state’s population, it has grown significantly over the decades. The event not only attracts local families but has also become a national spectacle broadcast across Australia.

The Carols are not only about spectacular performances but also community spirit. Families and social groups are invited to enjoy a full evening of entertainment beginning with the City of Adelaide Pre-Show Concert at 5.00pm. As always, attendance is free, encouraging everyone to join in the festivities.

The gate will open at 3pm, and the main concert will start at 8.15pm, concluding with a dazzling fireworks display. More than 15,000 attendees are expected to fill Elder Park, making it a night to remember.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast nationally on Channel 7, including stations 7Two and 7Plus, on Sunday, 15 December 2024, and on Christmas Day. This ensures that no one misses out on the joyous celebration, whether attending live or watching from home.
