As we wave goodbye to winter and begin to embrace the warmer weather, we naturally start gravitating towards the beautiful Adelaide beaches and conjuring ways in which we can spend more time by the water. Enter the Semaphore Music Festival. Now in its 18th year, the 4-day festival takes place in various locations throughout the seaside suburb, including a huge foreshore party to wrap up the festivities.
The blues, roots and folk focused line-up will see the likes of Kings & Associates, Lazy Eye, Ella & Sienna, Velvet Moth & CBBGs, Frankie & Savva, Urban Youth and Lilac Cove. Local teen band, Sunsick Daisy, will also be putting on a show with the four-piece group getting big recognition around the country after becoming finalists in the Triple J Unearthed High competition earlier this year.
Taking place on the October long weekend, venues include the Semaphore Worker’s Club, The Fed, Mr V Music, and of course the iconic Palais Hotel with the main event on the Semaphore Foreshore Reserve. For those of you wanting to take home a piece of the action, Mr V Music will be setting up a record fair at St Bede’s Church Hall.
Shows will start each day in the early afternoon with some kicking on into the wee hours of the morning. With new
Saving the best ‘til last, the ‘Beach Blanket Picnic’ will conclude the weekend’s events and will see local acts Cookie Baker, Ollie English, Lilac Cove, Kelly Menhennett and Ukulele Death Squad round off the weekend festivities. Limited pre-sale tickets are now available via the website.
