Hidden in the small town of Verdun in the Adelaide Hills lives Fourth Hill Providore – a brand new café that popped up in mid-March. The quaint, renovated barn is named after its location, being on the ‘Fourth Hill’ from Adelaide.
The former Redgum and More barn has undergone a significant transformation, now serving up a variety of delectable sweet and savoury bites.
Pablo Theodoros and the team behind the Stanley Bridge Tavern have spent the past four years renovating the dilapidated building and have created a truly stunning brunch destination.
Floor to ceiling, white framed windows line the frontage of the building, adorned with a sloping white roof, an outdoor porch area, and pale sandstone walls – the final remnants of the old barn.
The interiors can be described as natural, fresh, and clean. The bleached wooden panels extending the length of the ceiling appear to expand the sizable windows even further, dishing up that indoor/outdoor experience.
The breakfast menu is a mixture of old fashioned favourites and modern dishes. Gooey spinach omelettes, seasonal fruit bowls, and comforting serves of homemade baked beans can be found on the menu, alongside hearty lunch menu.
Rotating daily pasta offerings, pizza by the slice, and Fourth Hill Muffaletta differentiate this venue from the crowd, alongside bread baked fresh daily.
The local community has rallied around Fourth Hill Providore since its opening, allowing for the new venue to flourish. Consistent with its providore name, Fourth Hill is also the purveyors of other goods, selling Etikette candles and hand-thrown stoneware instore.
To cater to the local audience, drinks served keep it local too – supporting Adelaide Hills wines, SA beers and spirits, and Mischief Brew soft drinks.
Fourth Hill, in addition to its daily operations, also operates as a stunning function space, with intentions of host cooking classes in the future.
