Fox to show Adelaide how to save money and the planet

One of the world’s most renowned authorities on food waste, the UK’s Richard Fox, is coming to Adelaide this month to show locals how to save hundreds of dollars on their grocery bills every year and reduce food wastage.

Appearing on behalf of food rescue charity, OzHarvest Adelaide, Richard will hold two public cooking demonstrations and discuss food sustainability at an invitation-only industry forum,  featuring a high calibre group of food experts, on Friday, 19 October in the Adelaide Central Market.

Richard’s globally viewed cooking demonstrations, which are designed to change habits, develop new skills, save heaps of money as well as look after the environment, are bound to be a hit with the busy Central Market crowd.

OzHarvest Founder and CEO, Ronni Kahn said Adelaide will be treated to the world’s best food expert and have an opportunity to learn about reducing food waste in an interesting and engaging way.

“Richard is in demand worldwide for his unique and motivating workshops and appears on stage with nothing more than a set of knives, a box of everyday cupboard ingredients and the contents of an everyman’s fridge, converting past-it-looking produce into gastronomic masterpieces,” Ms Kahn said.

“Central Market shoppers will leave armed with fabulous ideas for cooking with leftovers, as well as advice on reducing waste, which will save hundreds of dollars in grocery bills and garbage bags,” she said.

In metropolitan Adelaide, the average household wastes around $517 each year by throwing away 3.3 kilograms of food a week. Since its inception in January 2011, OzHarvest Adelaide has rescued 500,000 meals from more than 210 local food businesses, delivering quality food to 40 different charitable agencies.
