Adelaide is gearing up for a heartwarming start to the week on Monday, 19th August. La Moka and Super Studio are teaming up to turn Blue Monday on its head – they’re giving away 300 free coffees to lucky commuters. It’s all happening under the next Blue Moon, and it’s a fantastic way to celebrate this rare celestial event while lending a hand to Beyond Blue.
Picture this: it’s 7:30 in the morning, you’re heading to work, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee draws you in. The first 300 people to swing by the Blue Monday pop-up at La Moka on Peel Street on Monday August 19th, will be treated to a free cuppa, no strings attached. It’s the perfect pick-me-up to brighten a Monday morning and a reminder that we’re all in this together.
But it’s not just about the coffee. DJ Brigiette will be spinning tunes to create a lively atmosphere, and there’s a wellness raffle with some fantastic prizes up for grabs. It’s all about promoting self-care and spreading good vibes.
Shannan Gillingham, Marketing Executive at Super Studio, is clearly excited about the event. “This Blue Monday is one to look forward to,” she says. “We’re redefining Blue Monday by inspiring positivity for Adelaideans as they begin their week, while also supporting a vital organisation that ensures South Australians can access essential mental health care when they need it most.”
And that’s where Beyond Blue comes in. Every coffee sold after the first 300 will raise funds for this amazing organisation. You can also chip in directly through QR codes and donation tins at the venue. These donations make a real difference, helping Beyond Blue continue their crucial work across Australia.
Dr Luke Martin, a clinical spokesperson for Beyond Blue, is incredibly grateful for the initiative. “We greatly appreciate La Moka and Super Studio’s efforts to fundraise for Beyond Blue because all donations go towards delivering our support services which are available to people across Australia whenever they need it,” he says. He also stresses the importance of reaching out for help early. “When people have access to supports sooner, it can help reduce the severity and day-to-day impact of their mental health issues. The earlier you get support the better.”
It’s a sobering thought that in the next 24 hours, around 800 people will contact Beyond Blue for support. And sadly, nearly half of us will experience a mental health condition at some point in our lives. Events like this Blue Monday coffee giveaway not only raise much-needed funds but also spark conversations and encourage people to connect. That’s vital in the ongoing battle against mental health issues.
