Free Parking For Hospital Staff During Pandemic

SA will provide free car parking for hospital staff during the coronavirus pandemic to support frontline hospital staff.

The State Government will provide free car parking for hospital staff during the coronavirus pandemic to support frontline hospital staff in their lifesaving work to protect the health of South Australians.

Hospital workers who don’t have a car or prefer to use public transport to get to work will also be provided with free travel on South Australia’s public transport system.

“We care for those who care for us.  We are determined to support our dedicated hospital staff doing daily battle with this nasty, insidious disease,” said Premier Steven Marshall.

“It takes great courage to go to work knowing there is  a risk of coming into contact with this dangerous and highly infectious disease.

“The parking and transport measures are a small thanks from the people of South Australia to all hospital workers for continuing to turn up day in day out when we need you most.”

Health Minister Stephen Wade said he was proud of the outstanding care and professionalism of South Australia’s health workforce during this very difficult time.

“The swift and decisive response by South Australia’s health system to the emerging threat of COVID-19 has enable us to contain the threat at this stage but we are just at the beginning of a very long battle” said Minister Wade.

“Looking after those workers on the frontline of the response to COVID-19 is part of the Marshall Government’s strong plan to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

“Free car parking for the doctors, nurses, cleaners and receptionists at our metropolitan hospitals adds to a series of initiatives already in place.

“Frontline health workers are again being given free flu vaccination to help protect them for the flu whilst fighting COVID-19.

“Our ‘Hotel for Heroes’ inititative is providing a welcome sanctuary for health workers during this crisis and giving them peace of mind that they are minimising any risk to their families.

“The State Government’s support of local manufacturers Detmold and Chesser Chemicals is delivering critical supplies of surgical masks and hand sanitiser to help protect frontline workers.”
