After Wednesday’s fantastic news we didn’t think marriage equality news could get much better, but it has! The City of Adelaide welcomed the success of the Yes vote and to celebrate marriage equality by waiving site fees for all wedding ceremonies.

From 1 January until 30 June next year there will be no fee for holding your marriage, same-sex or otherwise, in the beautiful Adelaide Parklands or Squares, should marriage equality become law.

The Park Lands are a popular venue for weddings, particularly over spring and summer. Some sought after wedding ceremony locations include Veale Gardens, Brougham Gardens, Bonython Park River Bank and other sites on the River Torrens, in particular Angas Gardens and Grundy Gardens.

Lord Mayor of Adelaide Martin Haese said waiving site fees for all wedding ceremonies in the Park Lands was something the City of Adelaide could do to demonstrate its support for marriage equality.
