Free public transport for racing fans ahead of the VALO Adelaide 500

VALO Adelaide 500 event goers are in pole position as the State Government delivers free public transport for ticket-holders to celebrate the world class motorsport event’s return to the city.

VALO Adelaide 500 event goers are in pole position as the State Government delivers free public transport for ticket-holders to celebrate the world class motorsport event’s return to the city.

Australia’s largest ticketed domestic motor sport event roars back to life on Adelaide’s 3.2km Street Circuit for the first time since 2020 with fans enjoying a free ride to the Supercars race from December 1-4.

Ticket holders to the VALO Adelaide 500 are entitled to free travel on all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services throughout the four days of the event. Those aged 12 and under receive free entry to the track and won’t need to show their ticket.

Additional bus, train and tram services will operate throughout the event to run for the 23rd time in Adelaide. Dedicated O Bahn shuttles and an event shuttle will also operate frequently during the VALO Adelaide 500.

The event shuttle will operate from approximately 9am to 11pm each day, servicing a route including key gates around the circuit then looping to the Adelaide Railway Station.

Additional bus and tram services will also operate for the after race concert series each night to cater for increased crowds.

The free public transport follows the decision to reduce ticket prices to levels last seen 10 years ago, which is driving strong ticket sales in the lead-up to the event.

The race injected almost $46 million into the SA economy in 2019 and created 435 full time jobs. It attracted more than 15,000 visitors from interstate and overseas.

Treasurer Stephen Mullighan said “This is an iconic race that drives visitors, jobs and the economy. We want to make it as easy and affordable to attend as possible – we’ve already dialled back ticket prices 10 years, and providing free public transport is another great incentive.

“The event shuttle service will make it even more convenient for fans to get around and take in all the action of the best touring car race in the world.

“I’m looking forward to seeing South Australians embrace the VALO Adelaide 500, which is now just seven weeks away,” Mullighan said.

The VALO Adelaide 500 free travel on public transport for ticket-holders and additional services is supported by SA Motor Sport Board and the State Government.
