More than half of the Riverland region’s annual rainfall has fallen in recent days, with more heavy rains forecast towards the end of the week. Waikerie and Murray Bridge can expect dry but cloudy days for the rest of the week, but residents of Loxton and Berri need to be prepared for some wet weather. Heavy rain in Lower Light and Stockport will continue through to next week.

The South Australian State Emergency Service advises:

  • It is never safe to drive through flood waters.
  • Be aware that floodwaters may rise rapidly and are likely to be fast moving.
  • Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
  • Move items of value to a safe place.
  • Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
