Now that the weather is getting cooler, weekends are less about swimming and more about rugging up and heading somewhere interesting to eat, drink, and be entertained. A trip to the Barossa Valley is a fabulous way to do all of the above, and the scenic Thorn-Clarke Wines is certainly worth checking out.

Thorn-Clarke offers free tastings, Instagrammable platters, and – wait for it – a golf driving range. Also on the cards is a pretty stunning view from the cellar door of the Little Para River and the rolling vineyards.

Within the free tasting, you’ll experience the full range of wines available, including both Barossa and Eden Valley varieties. 100% family owned, Thorn-Clarke boasts award-winning wines, including their 2018 Sandpiper Riesling. The experienced staff will be on hand to walk you through the range and make sure you’re looked after.

Platters are available (bookings essential) for $18pp and feature a range of local meats, dried fruit from gully gardens, cheese from Barossa Valley Cheese company, and Hutton Vale spreads.

As for the golf, the driving range sits in the gorgeous grounds of the winery. Walk-ups are more than welcome, and it’s a neat $10 for a bucket of golf balls (yes, your entertainment for the arvo is set).
