South Australia is bracing for a blast of wild winter weather and a Code Blue Tier 2 response has been activated right across the state to help protect rough sleepers from the cold.
From today, Monday 23 June, extra support is being rolled out in dozens of regions with some areas continuing through to Wednesday morning. With freezing temperatures, heavy rain and strong winds forecast, the goal is simple. Get people indoors and keep them safe.
Tier 2 means more than just extra outreach. It includes things like overnight accommodation, motel stays for those most at risk, warm meals, bedding and support from local teams checking in on people doing it tough. Tier 1 is also active in some areas and offers extended day services, warm clothing, hot drinks and help connecting to services.
Adelaide Metro, the Mount Lofty Ranges, Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, the Yorke Peninsula, Murraylands and the South East are all on Tier 2 alert today and tomorrow. The Mid North is also continuing its Tier 2 response across both days.

Every response is tailored to what each community needs most. But the message across the board is clear. No one should be left out in the cold without help.
