If it’s one thing France is known for besides cheese, wine and frog’s legs, it’s paving the way with contemporary electronic music. Like Daft Punk, Justice and Ed Banger’s entire roster, French DJs and producers have been leading the world in generating addictive dancefloor grooves traversing disco, house and electronica for the last couple of decades and one of the latest exponents to take the world by storm is Breakbot.
Comprised of DJ Thibaut Berland and vocalist Irfane, the duo is responsible for super-addictive bangers like ‘Baby I’m Yours’, ‘Fantasy’, ‘One Out of Two’, as well as remixes for Pnau, Justice, Digitalism and Phoenix. Breakbot skilfully melds dance, electro and hip hop in the most seductive way, pulling out sweet toe tapping rhythms, slick bass riffs and signature French style house vocals. A simpler way of describing it is if you love Justice’s first album, Jamiroquai, Chic and Sebastian, you can’t go wrong with Breakbot.
Make sure you avoid the queue and grab your tickets early. With BODY MOVEMENT, Cats DJs and this year’s favourite local party DJ collective the Skin Contact on the bill, it’s sure to be one of the best nights for clubbers before the year ends.
