Last year Fresh 92.7 kicked off its biggest project ever with Fresh Jobs, an online portal providing young people with access to the information they need to gain and retain employment.
After a successful 9 month campaign in 2021, Fresh have given the portal a refresh, thanks to ongoing support from its major sponsor the Department of Innovation and Skills. Fresh Jobs is now back for 2022 with even more for job seekers, including new job listings.
Premier Peter Malinauskas visited the Fresh brekky team this morning to speak about the importance of the initiative.
“Nothing is more important to people than the dignity of work. I mean, a job gives you the ability not to just earn an income but get that sense of productive fulfilment that a good day’s work can provide,” he said.
“Any way that we see an effort being undertaken that facilitates someone getting a job or an employer giving someone a job, that’s only a good thing, so I think the initiative here from Fresh is a good one.”
As a community radio station, Fresh has, at its core, a drive to connect with and support the local community. The impact of COVID-19 in 2020 was devastating to local businesses, with many laying off staff and others closing their doors entirely. During this time South Australia’s unemployment rate increased to 8.8%, with youth unemployment almost double this.
Fast forward to 2021 and South Australia’s economic recovery effort was well underway with unemployment dropping to 6.3%, an increase in jobs being advertised, and businesses successfully exiting Job Keeper. It was the perfect time for Fresh to throw its support behind local business and, help our community get back to work.
Freshjobs.com.au provides a central hub for young people to access the information they need, to find, gain and retain employment as well as to promote local businesses. This second campaign, which is staged to run to the end of the year, integrates the online portal with on-air and social media content dedicated to providing educational resources and tools to support job seekers, particularly young job seekers. New to the portal this year are employer profiles and job listings.
Fresh has worked extremely hard to build a space that will support job seekers to access a wide range of employment and careers related information. Everything from putting together your first resume, to what to do with your first pay-check, to how to improve your skills and take the next step in your career. Subscribers will receive a monthly digest highlighting what’s new and what’s trending in the jobs space.
