FRINGE: A Cocktail of Mysteries is set to thrill with a magic show crafted for your 5 senses

A Cocktail of Mysteries is a unique performance that debuted in 2023 at a highly successful weekly showing in Singapore.

Renowned Singapore magic production company Theatre of Wonder brings an intimate showing of cocktail fuelled magic to this year’s Fringe season. A Cocktail of Mysteries is a unique performance that debuted in 2023 at a highly successful weekly showing in Singapore.

Directed and performed by renowned magician and illusionist Kai Emmanuel, the show is distinctly cocktail-themed, with cocktail shakers, martini glasses and drinks as its main props. This setting, according to Kai, is crucial for the atmosphere. “I want audiences to feel like they’re watching a bar come to life in the most magical way,” Kai said. “And I believe that a bar-setting is perfect for magic because people let their guard down and are open to experiencing something new.”

A Cocktail of Mysteries proposes an extraordinary premise that promises to engage all five human senses – sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. Sure, you’ve probably been in audiences where sight and sound are key factors for the illusions you’re witnessing. Maybe you’ve even had touch, but taste and smell are rarities. It’ll be a tantalising experience that will trick your eyes, ears, nose, and even taste buds.

In an innovative approach to magic that thinks outside the box, Kai’s dedication to his craft and his personal journey through the world of illusion will both be clear.

In the three-day-only performance, he honours his lineage, sharing stories of his family members – his mother, uncle, and grandfather, who were all magicians and deeply influenced his career choice. His narrative melds seamlessly with the visual and sensory elements of the show, creating a deeply personal experience for the audience. Here’s the show’s trailer:

The show will take place in the Executive lounge at Stamford Plaza Adelaide. Raise a glass to a great night! The Hotel Bar at Stamford Plaza Adelaide is right next to the venue and will be fully open, so you can sip on your favourite drink while enjoying the show.

The show is already highly anticipated following its successful run since debuting in 2023 at The Magic Bar in Singapore. This venue, known for being Singapore’s only cocktail bar featuring live magic shows, has provided a sophisticated yet intimate backdrop for Kai’s performances, making a name for both the bar and the magician.

So far, audiences have left amazed, with patrons giving stellar reviews of their experiences. Royce Ang, a recent attendee, said in a review, “Highly recommend! What a magical experience! Please bring your friends/loved ones here. I can assure you that you’ll leave feeling in awe and wonder.”

Production company Theatre of Wonder is set to dazzle this Fringe season with three electrifying shows: House of Curiosities, A Cocktail of Mysteries, and A Wonderful World of AI. Even better – grab tickets to any two shows, and a nice 15% discount will be automatically applied when you purchase.

Tickets will be in high demand for the limited three-day schedule, with the promise of a multi-sensory journey through the personal life of one of Singapore’s most skilled magicians.
