The final week of the Adelaide Fringe is sadly here, but it’s not slowing down by any means. So, if you’re looking to round out the festivities in style, there’s one show in particular that has had audiences coming back for more. After a breakout debut season, the cosmic circus cabaret LASSÙ: Cosmic Cabaret is wrapping up its run in Adelaide, and the hype surrounding it is only getting louder.

With packed audiences, five-star reviews, and even repeat visits from fans who couldn’t get enough the first time around, the word on LASSÙ has spread quickly among audiences. For a first-year Fringe show, the crew behind it say the response has been nothing short of amazing, with week after week of success.

Part circus, part cabaret, LASSÙ has captured the imagination of attendees with its combination of daring stunts, risque performances and bold characters. The show unfolds inside a cosmic saloon perched on the edge of the galaxy, where space cowboys, aerialists, fire performers and dancers create a spectacle of carefully choreographed chaos.

At the centre of the story is Rusty, a rogue hero navigating a post-explosion universe in search of the mythical golden lasso. It’s a loose narrative thread that allows the show to push boundaries and lean fully into its quirky energy.

Behind the performance is seventh-generation circus performer Merrik Ashton. This year, he has teamed up with internationally acclaimed creative director Mitchell Woodcock to bring the ambitious concept to life.

Mitchell’s impressive resume includes working with global pop stars like Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora and Meghan Trainor, as well as directing the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup. That experience in large-scale performance is clear throughout LASSÙ, with big visuals, tight choreography and a fast-paced show.

The acts themselves have been keeping audiences on the edge of their seats throughout the season. Knife throwing, crossbow stunts, aerial acrobatics and a jaw-dropping sequence featuring a performer suspended above the audience by her own hair all form part of the adrenaline-fuelled lineup.

Critics have been just as captivated as audiences, with five-star reviews coming in plentifully. Paul Meek from X Press Magazine described it as “A wonderful show, full of moments that were either jaw-dropping, laugh-out-loud, or sensually sizzling—at some points, all three at once.”

David Bravos from Broadway World said, “You quite simply haven’t seen it all until you’ve seen LASSÙ.” Upside Adelaide added, “Cosmic Cabaret’s level of excitement mixed with its flirtation with danger certainly set it apart as a truly exhilarating and wildly entertaining showstopper at this year’s festival.”

With only one week left before the final curtain closes, those who’ve been meaning to add the show to their list, or those who are only just hearing about it, should move quickly.
