Adelaide Fringe’s most acclaimed rock show is back to shake Gluttony: 27 Club.
If you’ve never heard about the mythos that surrounds the real-life 27 club, then you’re in for a sad reminder of the lives that incredible artists leave behind, and often too soon.
Winner of Adelaide Fringe’s Best Music Award in 2021, this must-see show will get fans praying to the rock gods as a cast of living legends including Kevin Mitchell (Bob Evans, Jebediah) and Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus) – celebrate the late, great members of the 27 Club at Gluttony’s The Fantail from February 17 to March 5.
Produced by South Australian production company, Release Creative, 27 Club salutes the rockstar icons who left us too early aged only 27 – Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain, Winehouse, and Morrison – each the voice of their generation.

“I love this show, I love the other singers, I love the band, I love the joy we all experience when we play together. Shows like this are a gift, it’s win-win for everybody, audience included,” said Sarah McLeod.
“It’s a massive celebration through hard and fast lessons in great music.”
“Although the premise of the show is quite dark, all of the artists died tragically far too young, the show itself is just a celebration of these once-in-a-generation artists and an incredible catalogue of songs,“ said Kevin Mitchell.
“We do not try to imitate the original artists, in some cases our versions are quite different to the original, the show is about honouring the music and the massive enduring cultural impact the artists have all had.
“It’s more of a rock show than a theatre show but it still lies somewhere in between which is what makes it so unique and fun to be a part of.”
Joining Kevin and Sarah on stage are Adelaide superstars, Carla Lippis and Music Director Dusty Lee Stephensen with Cam Blokland (newly appointed member of The Superjesus)and multi-SAM Award winning band Wanderers rounding out the eight-strong group.
“I adore the 27 team, it’s like a rock’n’roll bandcamp, we are all off doing our thing most of the time, but, once a year, we get to reconnect and create some stage magic together,” said Carla Lippis.
“I love getting back in the 27 Club saddle, and riding into the sunset with my music pals. We all bring something different to the songs, and when we come together we morph into a giant musical transformer of sorts!”
27Club – which has received a plethora of five-and four-and-a-half-star reviews–will run for the first three weeks of Fringe in Gluttony’s open-air arena, The Fantail, before touring Victoria and Queensland.
