Europe’s award-winning cabaret star Stefanie Rummel is back at the Adelaide Fringe 2026 with SONGS FROM LIFE, a musical cabaret where the melodies will carry you and the stories transform you.

Celebrated for her soulful performances and magnetic stage presence, Rummel invites audiences on a journey from the smoky Parisian cafés to the electric cabarets of Berlin and the jazz-soaked clubs of New York. Music and stories have a way of capturing life’s most powerful moments, and few performers embody that journey quite like Stefanie Rummel. SONGS FROM LIFE is a love letter to music and life that shapes us, blending timeless classics in the style of Edith Piaf, Kurt Weill and Stephen Sondheim with Stefanie’s own original works, which will premiere in Australia.

At the heart of the show are stories drawn from real-life experiences, interwoven with literary reflections from Goethe to Shakespeare. Themes of decision-making, slowing down, embracing change and shared humanity run throughout the performance, encouraging audiences to reflect, while being swept away by music.

This is an intimate theatrical experience where stories and songs come together. Seven original chansons, written and composed by Rummel and arranged and produced in collaboration with pianist and music producer Tom Schlüter, sit alongside iconic repertoire, creating a show that feels classic but contemporary.

Rummel’s career spans stages across Europe, the US, the UK and Australia, with appearances at major festivals including the Adelaide Fringe, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Reykjavik Fringe. Along the way, she has collected multiple awards for Best Chansons, Best Composer and Best Music Video, alongside reviews praising her “outstanding voice”, “brilliant showmanship” and rare ability to connect deeply with audiences.

Critics have called her performances elegant yet emotionally touching, observing how her voice moves effortlessly from delicate, long notes to moments of pure joie de vivre.

With a distinctly European sensibility, Rummel brings warmth and authenticity to the stage, singing in multiple languages. Each performance becomes a shared moment and a reminder of how music transcends borders, language and time.

SONGS FROM LIFE will be presented across multiple Adelaide Fringe venues from February 20th to March 4th, including Woodville Muree Smith Hall, Dom Polski, Adelaide Town Hall, Gawler Civic Centre and the grandeur of The Ayers House Ballroom.
