What happens when a frivolous magician has lofty artistic goals? Rob Ellinger’s Magic McMagicface is returning to Adelaide Fringe in 2020 after last year’s successful season, proving once again that you should never trust the internet to help you name your act. This year Rob will be performing eight shows in the Library Room at Ayer’s House.
Rob mixes a dapper style with a quick wit and mind blowing sleight of hand. In Magic McMagicface, magic is combined with literature, poetry, science, mathematics and music. Audiences can expect laughs and astonishing illusions to keep them guessing from start to finish.
With Magic McMagicface, Rob says “I want it to be beautifully magical, but I want it to go beyond just a series of tricks. It’s a bit peculiar, and a bit personal. I want to explore not just the craft of magic but the artistry behind it as well.”
Rob has been honing his art for the last ten years, and has performed in a variety of different styles and settings. He’s performed at the Adelaide Fringe since 2017, and has worked at corporate parties, weddings and nightclubs. He has recently begun creating original effects to market to the magic community.
As a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians he has had the privilege of learning from some of the world’s most knowledgeable magicians, and has an irrepressible love of sharing his work.
