Don’t let the title fool you, 2 Nuts for Dick Tricks isn’t a Magic Mike or Puppetry of the Penis affair, but instead a classic magic performance with tricks, comedy, and a healthy dose of innuendo.

We meet investigator Dirk Darrow as he delves into the mysterious goings-on in a mental asylum in 1939. Four of these asylum patients are introduced along the way, from a southern preacher to a professor performing a variety of mentalist tricks.

This debonair character brings together traditional sleight of hand with cards strewn expertly across the room and disappearing handkerchiefs, with unexpected elements including launching into a rap.

Our card-flinging, fast-talking illusionist, portrayed by Tim Motley put all his energy into his performance. Dirk is a pro, a rehearsed professional that’s accustomed to winning over a crowd. His long history of busking and bouncing off an audience was evident as he gently goaded his participants onto the stage to get amongst the action. Some of the US political commentary was lost to the crowd, but overall his banter and dry wit was warmly accepted.

2 Nuts for Dick Tricks is an interactive night of illusions and tricks with a dose of mystery guaranteed to satisfy avid fans of magic.
