Circus SONAS Family Show is father and son team, Martin and Logy. All the way from Northern Ireland, they’re here to impress you with their circus skills and Irish charm.
Appearing at Gluttony in the Parasol Lounge, this is a great venue for this particular show (bucket seats, rows with sufficient space, and some air-conditioning) because the men need a bit of room to properly display their big personalities and beards to rival Dumbledore’s.
While advertised as containing ‘circus stunts’, most of the show focuses on various forms of juggling. There’s your basic ball juggling to Popcorn, moving on to impressive tricks with hats, blocks and rings. Logy attempts some 80s breakdancing, while Martin is a pro at the ‘beard spin’. There’s lots of music, jokes and wonderful audience interaction.
You probably wouldn’t go to this show for their amazing skills (there are far more adept circus performers at Fringe) but what sets this show apart is its humour, cheekiness and continual upbeat energy. As a reviewer, I was spotted from the get-go and copped some good-natured jeering. Another lady spotted on her phone had it pinched by Logy who proceeded to post how great the show was to her open Facebook account.
The target audience for Circus SONAS is families with kids in primary school. As a reviewer of many children’s shows, this is up there with my favourites because it did cater so well to adult humour while simultaneously focusing on the kids. If you’re looking for a show for the whole family that mum and dad will also enjoy, go see this one. Martin and Logy are a hoot, and they can even juggle.
