After taking America’s Got Talent by storm, Hans is back in little old Adelaide, serving up his new show, Haus of Hans: Disco Spektakular. As the title suggest, this show is indeed Spektakular!

Backed by a four piece band (The Ungrateful Bastards), 2 talented backup singers (The Rejections) and 2 dancers (The Lucky Bitches), Hans takes the audience on a trip back to the disco era, with his own special flare.

Whilst Hans (or to some, Matt Gilbertson) may not have the best vocal ability, you easily look past this as Hans oozes showmanship, personality and glamour. This hour long performance is a smorgasbord of entertainment, from glitzy costumes (thanks to Hans’ mum) and snappy dance routines to music stirring you to get up and dance and accordion sing-a-longs. The lighting design also added that extra element to this performance, along with Hans’ giant balls – mirror balls that is.

What really makes this performance is Hans’ banter with the audience between numbers. Nothing is off limits with Hans, and neither are you in the audience. Be prepared to become part of his witty banter or a dance routine. Hans is also all over everything political and social, and his own unique viewpoint on current affairs has the audience in stitches.

The only glitch to this performance is the audio in the venue. It is hard to mix a live band in what is really a glorified circus tent. The audio team do a fantastic job at controlling this; however, when Hans was singing with a headset microphone his vocals were often lost. There were no issues when he used a handheld microphone, however.

If you haven’t experienced the glamorous world of Hans, this certainly should be rectified. He is a world class act, and I guarantee that by the end of the night you will be on your feet dancing to his Spektakular performance.
