Fringe Review: James Hancox: Sports For The Unsporty

This is not really stand-up comedy nor a game show, but rather a show of comedic games

Come and play with James - you'll be glad you did

Sports For The Unsporty! If ever there was a show designed specifically for this reviewer, it’s this one. I am the most unsporty person in the world – if I had to make a choice between playing sport and ripping my own fingernails out, quick give me the pliers!

This is not really stand-up comedy nor a game show, but rather a show of comedic games – and it is FUN with a capital HILARITY!! James Hancox has invented his own brand of sports and shares them freely and willingly with his audience. I’m not telling you what they are as that would spoil the fun and surprises. But I can tell you that one involves everybody and it is a great icebreaker.

This is very clever on Hancox’s part as it brings us all very quickly onto his playing field. He is obviously very experienced and skilled at controlling and holding an audience in the palm of his hand. It feels somewhat like we are being entertained at a rather good holiday camp.

This is a great way to spend an hour (and it’s fairly family friendly) and it was one of the most enjoyable shows I have had the pleasure to see this Fringe season.
