Katie Noonan was at the Adelaide Fringe for one night only as part of her Peace Is My Drug Tour.

Her show was a wonderful experience with huge musical talent on display. The show focussed on a lot of her new music that will feature as part of her soon-to-be-released EP.

Noonan smashed through the songs at an amazing pace to squeeze as much music as possible into the show. The hour-long time slot limited the amount of banter available but Noonan forewent chatting to power through an incredible range of songs.

Noonan is a truly talented songstress. Each song she performed seemed to take on a personality of its own with her captivating vocals effortlessly flowing through the tale of each set of lyrics.

She looked very comfortable on stage, which created a welcoming and friendly presence. The show had a casual nature to it, particularly between the songs, which provided for smooth transitions amongst instruments despite the small stage space in the Aurora Spiegeltent.

Her band, Vanguard, backed Noonan with a similar relaxed vibe. The range of original tunes available to them allowed for the easy insertion of popular songs when they realised the set was running ahead of schedule. It presented slightly as a polished jam session where at a basic cue they could take off on any song in their list.

An hour didn’t feel long enough to have a complete Katie Noonan experience. However, it was plenty of time to fall in love with her voice and its powerful range along with her casual, approachable presence on stage.

The show is Noonan’s only show with the 2015 Adelaide Fringe. She is due to return later in the year following her EP release.
