Fringe Review: Leigh Qurban – Good Effort

Adelaide-local Leigh Qurban showcases relatable comedy at its finest.

It can be said that Leigh Qurban has put some really “good effort” into his Adelaide Fringe show this year. This intelligent and overall hilarious stand-up show serves as a reminder of what we should really be putting all our efforts into, and includes messages that are relevant to every one of us.

In Good Effort, Qurban deconstructs the concept of success, and explores the ways in which we choose to do mundane jobs to fund the more fulfilling aspects of our lives.

An Adelaide local himself, Qurban receives especially hearty laughs and enthusiastic applause when he describes his noble efforts in defending Adelaide against his mates from Melbourne.

Qurban’s quirky style pairs perfectly with the unique venue of The Niche at The Producers Hotel, located on Grenfell Street. This very intimate setting allows Qurban to interact extensively with audience members, which both enriches the show, and has the audience in hysterics.

Complete with an opportunity to meet Qurban at the end, Good Effort is relatable comedy at its finest, and should not be missed.
