It has been two years since Adelaide Comedy took a fringe show to the South and this year they do so with style at the recently refurbished Marion Hotel. The show has grown from its humble beginnings in the garden to today being held in their fully seated function room.

To give you an idea of the comedy standards you can expect, their past shows – held in 2015, 2016 and 2017 – were sell outs and this year, some of the funniest comedians of the Fringe will again be showcased. The show runs for ninety minutes with a short break and features four comedians.

In this session, we had a hilarious introductory start by Brisbane based comedian Lindsay Webb who was host of the evening, with Melbourne based Bron Lewis kicking off the show as the first act. Hers was a short session, followed by incredibly entertaining Great Australian Bake Off co-host Claire Hooper.

Resuming after a short break was International Word Clown Gordon Southern, with New Zealand’s Jarred Fell as the finishing act. Both acts were highly amusing. However, a word of warning – if you don’t want to be part of the show, it is best not to sit near the front!

Adelaide Comedy celebrates 20 years this year and as a company provides a framework for stand up comedians to regularly showcase their talents in South Australian venues each week. As a community Adelaide Comedy also provides counsel and encouragement for eager local performers; as such, by attending one of their events you are not only going to be highly entertained, you are also keeping the industry alive in South Australia.

Please Note: Ever dedicated to supporting everyone in their community including their fans, Sunday the 23rd’s Marion Hotel Sunday Session is a tribute to one of Adelaide Comedy’s greatest fans and supporters Belinda Schmidt, who sadly passed away in July 2019. All proceeds from this event will go towards spina bifida research.
