One of Adelaide’s favourite and multi-talented sons is back for another Fringe. Michael Griffiths is a regular in the Fringe line up but this year he is just being him. After many years of doing tributes to Kylie Minogue, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Peter Allen and the ever-popular Cole Porter, Griffiths is ready to tell his own story of 20 years on and off stage.

A false start with a silent keyboard couldn’t faze this consummate performer who laughed it off and gave the audience what it was waiting for, his own particular brand of homage to the performers he enjoys. Prior to the show Griffiths asked for requests from his audience and did his level best to cover all those songs. They were as different as Breathe (Taylor Swift), I Got You Under My Skin (Cole Porter) and Somebody to Love (Queen).

His self-depreciating patter kept the audience’s attention and they were with him every step of the way, only disappointed when the show came to a close. His small ensemble was excellent; drums and bass both completely in sync with his changes and amusing segues. The venue was not the best; lets hope that if he returns next year they find him a better spot. Great performer, catch his show!
