Fringe Review: Nikki Britton – Once Bitten

Nikki Britton has a problem; she’s mid-thirties and is still denying every urge she has ever encountered.

An hour of your life you won’t want to get back – in fact you’ll probably want to give up another hour to get the jokes you missed the first time you see this show.

Nikki Britton has a problem; she’s mid-thirties and is still denying every urge she has ever encountered. All I can say is thank god, it gives her the opportunity to explore with the help of her audience (if they are capable) what the solutions are to the never ending list of hurdles as she tries to examine, with hilarious results, just what happens when you take a good long, hard, look at yourself when your single in your mid-thirties – perhaps that’s the problem; the long, hard, look.

This woman is funny, her material is original, her delivery clever, and engaging. The results – mass hysteria and that’s just the men! This new show from the pen, and the unfathomable brain, of Ms Britton will leave you gasping for breath. She doesn’t give you time to recover from the last onslaught before she hits you with the next piece of comic gold – don’t forget to pack your Ventolin!

I have seen Nikki rise through the ranks in the stand-up world over the last few years and she is proving herself to be one to watch. Constantly growing and changing. Finding new material, not afraid to enter boldly into the personal space she finds herself in, and not afraid to include and challenge her audience, Nikki shines. She clearly enjoys the journey she takes and the effect it has on the punters who have dropped in for an hour of the best medicine. LYAO! I did.

The material is edgy, beautifully crafted so you can’t help but laugh, and so funny you’ll need to make an appointment to get your hernia fixed if you have anything resembling a sense of humour!

An hour of your life you won’t want to get back – in fact you’ll probably want to give up another hour to get the jokes you missed the first time you see this show.

If you are a fan of stand-up get along to see this woman before she becomes famous and we lose her to the big time.

Five really f*****g funny stars!

Occasional coarse language

Adult themes.
