Swingin’ Burlesque performed to a sold out crowd on Friday night. The show boasts talented and titillating performers from all around Australia, whose acts are enhanced by a live band.

Our hostess for the evening is Lyra la Belle, an award winning burlesque performer and director of Hot Sauce Burlesque Adelaide. She saunters onto the stage wearing a dazzling zip-away dress of black leather and sequins. Lyra’s banter is both seductive and witty, as she has the entire audience blushing and laughing at the same time. She warns: “If you don’t like boobs or bums, you should leave now.”

The cast is diverse, empowered, and award winning. Lyra explains, “burlesque is inclusive”. Our confident line-up includes: Miss Bettie Bombshell and her sensual acrobatics, Carla Conlin dancing in feathers and sequins, Desert Rose’s black lace lingerie, Porcelain Alice and her freestyle fire twirling, Scarlett Adam’s perfectly overdrawn lips, Leticia Stitch’s seductive choreography, with Lizzie Baker’s curves and poise, while Kelly Ann Doll’s charisma captivates the entire theatre.

The band is captivating and lively as they accompany these beauties – with classic tunes like Ain’t Misbehavin, Minnie the Moocher, Feeling Good, and Night Train.

As a parting gift, Lyra la Belle herself treats us to one final scandalous performance – until June, when Swingin’ Burlesque will return for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. If you enjoy risqué showstoppers and naughty jokes, then watch for Swingin’ Burlesque in a few months.
