The Jacobite Rebellion of Scotland retold

This production was meant for a very specific audience. The main thrust of the evening seems to be to tell the story of the Jacobite’s rebellion in Scotland. A fascinating story but not well told. Broken into the various battles and resurgences the story is broken by photos and screen time with breaks for music performed by a small band of musicians. The narrator lacks animation in her voice although it is clear she cares about her subject.

Although the music was welcome, a bad sound system meant that many of the lyrics were unintelligible. With some well known songs like The Skye Boat Song and Auld Lang Syne this did not matter so much. The highlights of the show were the dancing by three young ladies, the Seymour College Drum Corps and the pipe band (City of Adelaide Gracenotes Players) but they only appeared near the end.
