Existence – we have it, but what is it? Why does it exist (pun intended)? The Best Corn Chip In the Universe asks these question – well, not exactly, but questions do get asked! I’ll be honest, I really enjoyed this show, but not sure why.
That’s not quite true, about not knowing why: there are two very good reasons to enjoy this show. The first is: this show is what Fringe is all about. It’s different, highly imaginative, innovative, punchy, pacy and funny.
The second reason is very obvious to any who see this show: the performance by Michael Cullen. He is simply superb. Cullen greets you at the door and you know immediately that you like him. What you don’t realise til the show starts is how immensely talented he is. His vocal manipulations, physicality, movement, clowning, comic timing and acting are brilliant and absolutely captivating to watch. His one-man representation of the creation of the Universe and Life is worth the price of admission alone.
You may not understand it all (I didn’t) but if you want to say you truly experienced Fringe, then this show is a ‘must see’. As Cullen himself says, this is comedy of a very different kind – and I liked tasting it!
