They say truth is stranger than fiction and the seed of truth behind this play is indeed strange. When Prince Leonard of Hutt River declared his province separate from Australia, his cattle property became an interesting piece of our history. The protagonist in this story, self-styled King Henry has an onion farm for his principality and he is facing the necessity to hand over to his heir, but which heir.

Mick Young plays King Henry with all the stubboness one would imagine ruling his small kingdom, recalling his twin children, Hal (David Arcidiaco) and Henrietta (Nicola Grant) so the succession can be decided. What follows is really a family quarrel with interesting dynamics.

Written by Neale Irwin and James Harvy, this piece is directed by Harvy on a simple but effective set. The play is well acted with good characteristic. Not a laugh a minute comedy but a gentle smile with some interesting things to consider.
