FRINGE: Simply Brill returns to celebrate the teens who revolutionised rock’n’roll

Simply Brill: Hits of the 60s returns to the Adelaide Fringe 2025, celebrating the teen songwriters who shaped rock’n’roll with a dynamic live show featuring iconic hits and award-winning cabaret performers.

Hit show ‘Simply Brill: Hits of the 60s’ is cruising back to Adelaide this Fringe season celebrating the teens who revolutionised rock’n’roll. And with three of our state’s most successful cabaret performers behind the production, you are in for a treat!

Set in New York’s Brill Building, the show explores how legendary teen songwriters, including Neil Sedaka, Bobby Darin, Carole King, Cynthia Weil, and Ellie Greenwich created some of the biggest hits of the 20th century. Delight your senses with classics such as Rock Around the Clock, Splish Splash, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’, River Deep Mountain High, and Leader of the Pack.

And don’t worry if you’re not familiar with the artists, this production follows the fascinating story of the Brill Building, and plays some classic hits that will get you up and dancing.

Featuring a live band, Simply Brill combines music, storytelling, and humour to take audiences on a thrilling journey through rock’n’roll’s formative years.

Writer and creator Amelia Ryan says, “Simply Brill is a thrilling celebration of rock’n’roll’s formative years and the way music and popular culture were transformed, all within the walls of the Brill Building. It’s a vibrant blend of history, humour, and heart.

“We can’t wait to reunite the live band to perform these unforgettable hits and share this incredible story. We promise audiences will leave the show with a spring in their step!”

Simply Brill is produced by Amplified House, the production company founded by Amelia Ryan and Zac Tyler. The team is also behind Fringe favourites 27 Club and I Am Woman.

The show has toured extensively across Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, and New South Wales, and has featured as a headline act on cruise ships. It was also one of six finalists considered for an Off-Broadway run at the International Fringe Encore Series in 2025.

As a 2024 Fringe Weekly Award Winner for Best Music, the show features local cabaret artists Amelia Ryan, Michaela Burger, and Michael Griffiths.

For the final two shows of the season, Philippa Lynas, a former New York-based performer, will join the cast.
