This world-leading, virtual reality show is set to grip audiences, transporting them to heritage-listed venues and friendly beer gardens, with laughs supplied by great comedy acts.
The entertainment world is changing as technology impacts how people watch shows, from going to the cinema to viewing hand held devices.
Now it’s time to consider how audiences of the future will attend the theatre, with this VR Comedy show set to immerse people into The Best of the Bendigo Comedy Festival, showcasing unique venues in regional Victoria and special guest acts on those stages.
To keep things simple, audiences to VR Comedy will need no computer skills. The virtual reality headsets will be supplied and there are no online menu screens to navigate. Regardless of technology confidence, audiences will be able to arrive, sit back and experience this future of gig hopping.
The VR Comedy concept was devised by Luke Morris after he attended a lecture on future technologies in early 2019.
Having performed at festivals in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Edinburgh, and as a lead producer for the Bendigo Comedy Festival, Luke decided to use 360 video and virtual reality equipment to bring the experience of great venues to new audiences.
This show is a world first, and may well be the template for how shows tour and people attend festivals in the future.
