When Finesse Models Director Brigette Mitchell launched FROCK last year, her goal was clear. She wanted fashion, rock and an unforgettable showcase of local talent to help raise money for Motor Neuron Disease South Australia (MNDSA). Now, the sell-out event returns, this year featuring homegrown Adelaide stars against a backdrop of iconic silver-screen soundtracks.
Brigette’s passion for the cause stems from a personal place. Her sister lost her battle with the disease in November last year. To honour her, part proceeds from FROCK will be once again directed to MNDSA, ensuring sufferers have access to the support they need.
“The money raised goes to services that help people living with the disease. Things like wheelchairs, tools to open doors, and other necessities as the disease progresses to help you through daily life,” Brigette explains.

Expect a whole lot of newness at this year’s show… but with a music rewind. Confusing, but alluring, right? Moving away from last year’s vintage focus, the runway will showcase emerging talent from Flinders Design and TAFE students, as well as a mix of East End institutions like Miss Gladys Sym Choon, Van Brussel, and The Style Capsule.
Breakout Australian brands Cazinc The Label, Karma East and Nowa, and interstate designers Kazink and Nour will also be making an appearance.
As for the music, Brigette remains tight-lipped but promises some singalongs… Abba, anyone? Lucky for attendees, Adelaide DJ and ‘Professor of Pop Culture’ Filip Odzack will be behind the decks. In Filip, we trust.

Inclusivity is at the heart of the production. Expect models of all ages, sizes and ethnicities, as well as designers for a wide range of styles and audiences – a vision Brigette describes as “eclectic”.
“It’s a whole bunch of different stores and designers with different demographics, it’s going to be very eclectic.”
“We’re showing models from size four right up to 16, and I think our oldest model is in her mid-forties. I think it’s really important, especially when you are showcasing local talent, that it’s an inclusive experience.
Even the famed ‘Prada Boy’ Kane Parker – who made his international debut walking for Prada in Milan last year – will be gracing the runway with his luscious red locks.
“Kane certainly doesn’t have to do it, and we’re really honoured that he’s agreed to be part of the show,” she says.
People can purchase drinks from the bar or, better still, purchase a front-row ticket and receive one complimentary.
“Front row tickets are the best because besides being front row, the front row people will get a complimentary drink and a gift bag,” says Brigette.

Prepare for a night of fashion, fun, and Finesse for a cause as FROCK rocks the runway once again this Saturday. Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm show.
“It’s good for the industry, it’s good for local fashion and it’s good for the providers of services in South Australia because, if you put your money into research or local services, you’re helping everyone in the long run.”
