From Station Road to the cellar door, Chalk Hill is hosting a trio of must-try wine events this winter

Chalk Hill is hosting a trio of must-try winter wine events, including an epic dinner at Station Road, a global wine tasting and an exclusive cellar-door tasting.

Chalk Hill is turning winter into the ultimate excuse to rug up, gather, taste and linger a little longer, with three intimate wine events set to bring you closer to the stories, cellars and people behind the McLaren Vale label.

Across June and July, Chalk Hill will host a trio of experiences designed for wine lovers who want more than a standard tasting. From a city dinner paired with museum and new-release wines, to a global tasting showdown and an exclusive winter cellar event, the series is a clear reminder that membership comes with more than a regular delivery to the door.

Alpha Crucis Chardonnay Vertical Tasting Dinner | 16 June

The first event, the Alpha Crucis Chardonnay Vertical Tasting Dinner, will take place at Station Road Adelaide on Tuesday June 16, celebrating the release of the 2025 Alpha Crucis Chardonnay. The intimate long-table dinner will be hosted with winemaker Renae Hirsch and owner Tom Harvey, giving guests the chance to settle in for a relaxed four-course evening built around seven standout Chalk Hill wines.

Wine Club Manager Megan Bright said the dinner is designed to feel welcoming, not overly structured, with the winemaker on hand to guide guests through the wines. “The winemaker will be there and she’ll speak to the wines, but it’s very much a relaxed event,” Megan said.

The evening begins with a glass of Chalk Hill Wines Prosecco on arrival, before moving through dishes including kingfish crudo with lime oil and strawberry, butter poached prawn with roasted cauliflower and hazelnut, duck breast with plum and beetroot, and citrus tart with vanilla ice cream. The wine line-up includes the 2018, 2021, 2022 and new-release 2025 Alpha Crucis Chardonnay, alongside a rare comparison of 2016 Chalk Hill Clarendon Syrah and 2022 Alpha Crucis Clarendon Syrah.

Megan said the dinner also offers guests the chance to taste wines that may not appear again in this setting. “Some of these wines, certainly the 2022 Chardonnay, that’s the last that we have of it. So it won’t be available for tasting again after that,” she said.

Tickets are $100 per person, and the event is exclusive to Chalk Hill Wine Club members.

Chalk Hill vs The World | 19 June

Just a few days later, Chalk Hill will bring the experience back to its Alpha Crucis Lounge for Chalk Hill vs The World on Friday June 19. The seated tasting will take guests through nine wines from across continents, comparing how different regions, climates, soils and winemaking traditions shape what ends up in the glass.

The event is designed for both those who are curious, and those who are seasoned, with three tasting brackets led by one of Chalk Hill’s cellar door managers. Each bracket will compare Chalk Hill wines with international and Australian counterparts, giving guests a chance to explore familiar varieties through a global lens.

“The idea is to showcase the variety and how it can be expressed differently from another wine-growing region in Australia and from another country,” Megan said.

Chalk Hill vs The World begins with a 5:30pm arrival for a 6pm start. Tickets are $45 per person, or $35 for wine club members.

Chalk Hill Opens the Cellar: Shiraz and Cabernet edition | 17 July

The third event, Chalk Hill Opens the Cellar, will take place on Friday July 17, again in the Alpha Crucis Lounge. This wine club-only winter tasting will see Chalk Hill crack open its cellar and showcase current favourites alongside museum vintages, with a special focus on Shiraz and Cabernet.

Guests will taste at least eight wines, with some older vintage bottles available to purchase on the night. Food will also be available from Cucina di Strada until 7pm, making it an easy Friday night out by the fireplace at Chalk Hill’s cellar door.

Opening of the Cellar begins with a 5:30pm arrival for a 6pm start, with tickets priced at $30 per person. The event is exclusive to Wine Club members and their guests.
