It’s World Chocolate Day this Saturday 7th July! Yeah, you heard right! And what better way to celebrate the day than enjoying some of our favourite choccy treats… FruChocs!

The best part is, you can start indulging guilt-free, as Australian confectionery company (or local legends) Robern Menz have announced a new partnership with the Cocoa Horizons Foundation that will see the company source 100% of its cocoa sustainably by 2020.

“We’re proud that as part of World Chocolate Day, we’re not only celebrating people’s love of eating chocolate, but are also recognizing the valuable cocoa industry and supporting the hard-working farmers who produce it,” says Phil Sims, Robern Menz CEO.

Most of the world’s cocoa comes from small farms in West Africa, an area that faces a number of sustainability challenges. “Through our relationship with the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, it is our mission to help improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities through sustainable, entrepreneurial farming, improved productivity, and community development,” says Sims.

Alongside its emphasis on ethical sourcing, Robern Menz is also committed to supporting local South Australian businesses. As the world prepares to celebrate the eating of chocolate, Robern Menz will partner with local food businesses to create unique treats and desserts featuring FruChocs and the company’s new Vegan FruChocs—so you can enjoy the iconic treat with all your friends!

Just in time for World Chocolate Day, dessert masters 50SIXONE will be selling a FruChoc milkshake, Bianca Pizza will be selling FruChoc Pizzas and Vegan FruChoc Pizzas, and Pave Café will be providing delicious slices featuring FruChocs and Vegan FruChocs as well as a Vegan FruChoc Porridge.

“It became increasingly apparent that the demand was there for a vegan-friendly option. We’ve had many enquiries over the years for a vegan FruChoc and are really excited to be able to provide more options to our vegan community,” says Sims.

The vegan-friendly FruChocs can now be found in twenty independent Supermarkets across South Australia. And Strawberry Flavoured FruChocs will be available at OTR from early July, becoming available in independent supermarkets in August.
