Yesterday WOMADelaide 2022 kicked off with a bang! Plenty of Adelaide finished work early and rolled down to Botanic Park – the best knock-off spot in town – with gates open from 3:30pm. It was the perfect evening to grab some dinner from one of the 40 different food stalls, to then settle in as the soothing sounds of Joseph Tawadros & the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra soundtrack returned to Botanic Park.
The festival also featured some of the first overseas artists playing LIVE in a long, long time with Gaby Moreno on the Zoo Stage, and Reb Fountain on Stage 7.
As the sun went down, Baker Boy kick the audience into party mode, taking to the Foundation Stage for the first time, followed by the heavy afro-funk of The Shaolin Afronauts taking us to another world on Stage 3.
A headline spot for L.A.B’s first ever Adelaide show closed the Foundation Stage, before Inner City brought the late night ‘Big Fun’ over in Speakers’ Corner.
