People across the country were treated to a stunning light show last week with aurora australis.
The spectacular show was seen vividly in South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia with spirals, flickers and flows of colour.
They occur when solar flares blast streams of particles from the sun. These then go into solar winds and head towards Earth creating a magnificent collisions of colour and beauty.
While it’s usually seen in Antartica and in the Arctic, Australians were treated to the gorgeous views for a moment in time.
See the phenomenal pictures from South Australia, captured by amazing photographers.
