The renowned couture fashion house Paolo Sebastian has unveiled its latest collection, Luminary, set to grace the runways of Paris during Couture Fashion Week.
Inspired by the Paolo Sebastian woman, Luminary represents a significant milestone for the design house as it reflects on its own story over the past fifteen years.
Creative Director and Designer, Paul Vasileff, shares his excitement about the collection, saying, “After celebrating our 15-year anniversary, we were left to reflect on who the Paolo Sebastian woman is.”
Luminary draws inspiration from the Paolo Sebastian woman, who embodies the essence of a determined princess, a maiden traveler, a tempted goddess, and a moonlit dreamer.
Through her various journeys, each empowering and character-defining, she continues to evolve and shine with confidence, staying true to her values and embracing transformation.
“This collection is a true celebration of who we are and how we got here,” continues Vasileff. “To be able to showcase in Paris — which has been at the heart of my own transformation as a designer — just makes it all the more poignant.”
Paris, known as the fashion capital of the world, serves as a source of inspiration for Vasileff’s continuous growth and exploration of creative boundaries. It encourages him to dream big, overcome fears, and push the limits of his designs. Luminary reflects this journey of evolution with its striking and elegant pieces, showcasing a distinctive color palette of noir, argile, and rose clair.
The collection masterfully combines masculine and feminine elements, featuring sharp tailoring, corsetry, and high necklines alongside romantic ball gown silhouettes crafted from illusion tulle and sensuous body-skimming column dresses.
Intricate geometric beadwork, consisting of paillettes and Swarovski crystals, adds a touch of exquisite beauty to each ensemble.
“We spread our wings with this collection by incorporating a slightly darker and more moody palette, utilizing different styles such as the bubble skirt — which was originally first seen in 1950s Paris — and incorporating new details like crystal-embellished sheer gloves,” Vasileff explains.
Among the standout pieces in Luminary, the collection, are a strapless ballerina dress adorned with crystal honeycomb beadwork, a velvet open-back tuxedo, and a low-back silk faille gown embellished with embroidered beaded mesh overlay.
The showstopper is the couture wedding dress, featuring an Italian corded lace column gown with a floor-length caped overskirt, embellished florals, and a cathedral veil.
Vasileff emphasizes that Luminary is more of a mood than a story, capturing the graceful evolution of their heroine as she allows herself space to thrive in her current version. “She’s the hero of her own story, and she’s the epitome of our story so far.”
As Paolo Sebastian’s Luminary collection takes centre stage in Paris, fashion enthusiasts and admirers can anticipate an exquisite display of elegance, empowerment, and the transformative power of fashion.
