Gazander Oysters is hosting pop-up shops in Adelaide this week

Coffin Bay’s Gazander Oysters is back hosting three pop-up locations in Adelaide this weekend.

From ocean to table, get oysters straight from Coffin Bay in your Adelaide kitchen.

Little Douglas-based Gazander Oysters is back with more pop-up oyster shops for 2021. The company, which won Delicious’ state produce awards four years in a row, is setting up three pop-up locations in the city this weekend.

“Essentially, we are the growers bringing oysters direct to consumer to eat at home,” Carly Thomson, who owns and operates Gazander with her husband, Steven, says.

The pop-up shops will be located in South Brighton on Thursday, March 18th, and Kensington Park and Birkenhead on Friday, March 19th.

Buyers can get three dozen bags for $40, five dozen bags for $65, and 10 dozen bags for $130. If someone wants more than 20 dozen, the Pacific oysters will cost $12 per dozen.

Buyers are encouraged to place orders online and collect at the pop-up, but they’re also welcome to purchase at the pop-up. The oysters come unshucked, and Gazander also sells shuckers, trays, and various merchandise.

The family-owned company started bringing their award-winning oysters to Adelaide last year when the pandemic caused a business shift.

“Last year when the COVID-19 shutdown happened, we had a farm full of oysters and nowhere to sell them,” Carly says.

“We quickly organised an online store and went to Adelaide. It was more successful than we could have imagined.”

Now, the company is back in Adelaide with their click-to-collect pop-up model, and Carly says it’s a great time to buy and consume oysters.

“The season is just starting now, so the oysters are in good condition,” she says. “And they’ll just continue to get better and better as it gets colder and colder.”

The specific locations and pick-up times are:

Thursday, March 18th: 533 Brighton Road, South Brighton from 11am – 2pm.

Friday, March 19th: 339 The Parade, Kensington Park from 9am – 1pm.

Friday, March 19th: Birkenhead Tavern, Riverview Street, Birkenhead from 2:30pm – 5:30pm.
