A total of $25,000 worth of grants have been confirmed, providing schools and clubs with the opportunity to obtain equipment for new teams, or for existing teams to upgrade their current equipment.

According to SACA General Manager Cricket Operations, Shane Bernhardt, the provision of high quality equipment contributes significantly to attracting and retaining players and volunteers in cricket.

“Through the Gear Up grant program, SACA is delighted to be able to assist community cricket clubs and schools in accessing equipment and team kits for their underage teams,” said Bernhardt.

“Cricket has witnessed significant growth in entry level participation over the past four seasons and with the assistance of SACA’s Gear Up grant program, establishing new junior teams becomes more affordable.”

In regional SA, new cricket teams established in Murray Bridge, Port Pirie, Balaklava, and Morgan will receive cricket kits while clubs involved in the newly introduced Mid North Junior Twenty20 competition will also benefit.

Having recently been established in the Murray Towns Cricket Association, the Rambler Cricket Club will welcome new equipment for its Under 15 team.
