If you love video games, puzzles and pop culture, and are looking for something to do this weekend, there’s an event you won’t want to miss! GeekFest 2026 is making a splash as part of SA Youth Week, bringing an afternoon packed with gaming, cosplay, creativity and all things wonderfully nerdy.
Taking place on Saturday, April 11th from 1pm to 6pm, the event is designed for young people aged 12 to 25, creating a space where fans of gaming, anime, comics and tech can come together, connect and celebrate their shared interests.
This year’s lineup is filled with interactive experiences, from cosplay displays and gaming tournaments to Dungeons & Dragons sessions and an Artist’s Alley hosted by Adelaide Artcade Mini. The event is sure to be a creative hub where local artists showcase their work, giving attendees the chance to discover new talent and maybe even take home something unique.
For those keen to dive a little deeper, GeekFest is also offering a curated program of workshops and seminars. Award-winning fantasy author Rose Harvey will lead writing sessions, helping aspiring storytellers explore character creation, world-building and the key elements that bring fantasy worlds to life.
As for tech, expert-led talks will unpack topics like game development, AI, and VFX, offering a glimpse into the industries shaping the future of entertainment. So whether you’re curious about how games are made or dreaming of a career in animation, there’s heaps to learn.
One of the standout experiences this year is the hands-on model kit building workshops, introducing participants to the world of ‘plamo.’ With beginner-friendly kits provided and no tools required, it’s an easy and social way to try something new while getting creative.
While the majority of GeekFest is free to attend, some workshops and seminars require pre-booking, with limited spots available, so it’s worth locking those in early. Plus, food trucks will be on site throughout the afternoon, keeping everyone full while they explore the festival’s offerings.
With its combination of creativity and community, GeekFest 2026 is shaping up to be a standout event on Adelaide’s youth calendar. So if you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, a casual fan or just curious to see what it’s all about, this is your chance to step into a new world.
