Paul Gallop, with extensive Marriott experience, will open Adelaide’s first Marriott Hotel in the historic GPO building. The luxury hotel features 285 rooms, modern amenities, and a prime location for tourists and business travellers, debuting in August 2024.

Adelaide is set to welcome its first Marriott Hotel, a move that marks the iconic global brand’s introduction into South Australia’s thriving hospitality sector. Slated for an August 2024 opening, the Adelaide Marriott Hotel will occupy the historic General Post Office building in the city’s CBD.

Paul Gallop has been appointed as General Manager, and brings with him extensive expertise in overseeing hotel launches and complex refurbishment projects. His prior service with Marriott International has prepared him to lead the establishment of the flagship brand in this new market. With his leadership, the hotel is poised to capitalise on its strategic location and premium facilities.

“Growing up in the hotel industry, where heartfelt service is paramount, has profoundly shaped. my approach to hospitality,” remarked Gallop. “Leading the Adelaide Marriott Hotel allows me to extend the tradition of excellent service that Marriott is known for. With over 200 million loyal Marriott Bonvoy members worldwide, our commitment to quality is unmatched, and I am thrilled to bring these experiences to Adelaide.”

The Adelaide Marriott Hotel will integrate the city’s rich history with modern luxury. The GPO building at the intersection of King William and Franklin Streets has significant national heritage. This site will now support a contemporary 15-storey tower, housing 285 guest rooms including 12 suites. The development also promises a wealth of amenities including two dining venues, a fitness studio, indoor swimming pool, substantial conference and meeting spaces, and an executive lounge known as the M Club.

“With our central location opposite the Adelaide Town Hall, and proximal to key attractions like the Adelaide Convention Centre and Adelaide Oval, the Marriott Hotel stands as the optimal choice for visitors seeking a first-rate accommodation experience in the heart of the city,” added Gallop.

The arrival of the Marriott in Adelaide aligns well with the city’s growing allure as a travel destination renowned for its cultural richness, stunning landscapes, and celebrated wine regions. This presents a strategic move for Marriott, responding to the sustained increase in visitors that South Australia is experiencing.
